Collaboration: the multiplying factorConsortium is created in 1993 by a group of entrepreneurs.Faced with the profound changes that are occurring in the realm of distribution and componentry and the difficulty to withstand a competition of multi-national dimensions, they decided to create a national network, thus virtually merging their enterprises. Although maintaining their own local characteristics, they created a single interface presenting themselves to their suppliers as a nation-wide distributor. Within Consortium each partner manages his own area with a long consolidated structure. Centralizing some services and integrating locally used products with those that are of national strategic interest it is possible to create a unique competence within the proper area. Consortium focusses on passive and electro-mechanical components where a high level of assistance is required during the product development phase. Especially the emerging technologies, such as SMT, PRESS-FIT, EMI/RFI filtering, enable it to offer value added services.
